Abstract

The revival of traditional costumes through sustainable textile practices offers an opportunity to preserve cultural heritage while reducing textile waste. Mughal-era costumes are recognized for their distinctive silhouettes, rich textiles, intricate ornamentation and cultural significance. At the same time, reuse and upcycling of existing fabrics are increasingly promoted within circular fashion as strategies for extending textile life and reducing resource consumption. Data were collected from 100 respondents using a structured questionnaire based on a five-point Likert scale. The survey-based study focuses on Mughal costume awareness, cultural heritage appreciation, environmental awareness, and attitudes toward acceptance in other fabrics, perceived sustainability benefits, perceived barriers and intention to adopt existing fabrics Mughal-inspired garments. Descriptive statistics, reliability analysis and correlation analysis are proposed to examine the relationships among these variables. The study aims to explore the potential of integrating cultural heritage preservation with sustainable fashion practices and to provide insights for the development of contemporary Mughal-inspired garments using existing textile resources.
