Abstract

Climate change poses significant challenges to sustainable development, particularly in developing countries such as Ethiopia, where agriculture remains highly vulnerable to environmental changes. This paper examines the role of youth engagement and leadership in promoting climate resilience through education, innovation, and community participation. Focusing on the case of Green Agro Solution (GAS) and its digital platform, Lersha, the study highlights how technology-driven agricultural initiatives empower young people to adopt climate-smart practices and contribute to sustainable rural development. The paper emphasizes the interconnection between Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 13 (Climate Action), arguing that climate education equips youth with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to address environmental challenges effectively. Through training, digital literacy, financial inclusion, and leadership development, GAS has created opportunities for youth employment while strengthening climate resilience among smallholder farmers. The study further demonstrates that youth-led initiatives can enhance community awareness, encourage sustainable agricultural practices, and support economic empowerment. Adopting a humanistic approach, the paper advocates for inclusive, ethical, and participatory climate education that promotes social justice, gender equality, and global citizenship. The paper concludes that investing in youth leadership, climate education, and digital innovation is essential for building resilient communities and achieving sustainable development. The experience of Green Agro Solution provides a practical model for integrating education, technology, and youth empowerment in climate action efforts.
